16 to be the age of majority for everything!
It is crucial that young people become actively involved in the decisions that affect their lives as early as possible.
Sadly too many politicians pay lip service to youth involvement - preferring to engage at arms length rather than empower.
The Liberal Democrats believe in giving young people power and influence.
There can be no greater demonstration of trust and belief than the enfranchisement of 16 year olds.

Liberal Democrat Youth & Students
We run campaigns nationally and we have branches locally.
We run training sessions and we have a presence at the Conferences of the National Union of Students, the British Youth Council and various liberal international organisations.
LDYS has a valuable role to play in working within the party too. Our members have, over the years, participated in many of the Party's best election victories, at all levels -- from candidates to agents to simply delivering leaflets. We have proposed policy at Lib Dem Federal Conferences and we campaign jointly with the party on many issues, in particular education.
This site will show you how we work, what we do and, most importantly, how you can get involved.
